Mr. Talbott co-founded TDT Ventures, a Thompson | Dorfman Company, in 2007 to focus on the firm’s acquisitions of existing assets and implementing repositioning strategies. Mr. Talbott has over 25 years of multifamily experience. Prior to forming TDT Ventures, Mr. Talbott was senior vice president of operations and property management for Essex Property Trust, a $3 billion real estate investment trust with properties on the west coast. He also served on Essex’s Investment and Asset Management Committees.
Before joining Essex, Mr. Talbott served as vice president and division manager of asset management for BRE Properties based in San Francisco, where he initiated the company’s asset redevelopment program. Prior to joining BRE, Mr. Talbott was a partner and chief operating officer of Trammell Crow Residential (TCR). During his 9-year tenure with TCR, Mr. Talbott directed the lease-up of nearly $160 million of new development encompassing over 1,800 units.
Mr. Talbott also serves as a principal of R.W. Zukin Corp., a Bay Area property management firm. Mr. Talbott holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business Management from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and a MBA from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, California. He is a past president and board member of the Housing Industry Foundation and a past president and board member of the Tri-County Apartment Association.
